Two charged with retail park murder

TWO men are due to appear in court on a murder charge this morning (Monday, July 15) after a man who suffered serious head injuries in an incident in Prescot last week has since died.

Jonathan Fitchett, 22, of Prescot, suffered serious head injuries following a flashpoint on the Cables Retail Park at about 1.30pm last Thursday (July 11).

He was taken to hospital for emergency treatment but sadly succumbed to his injuries the following day.

Gerard Childs, 27, of King Edward Road, Rainhill, and Stephen Price, 28, of Hayes Avenue, Prescot, were subsequently charged with murder on Sunday (July 14).

Both men were remanded in custody to appear before Liverpool Magistrates’ Court this morning.
