Tribute to stabbing victim

The man who died after being stabbed outside a house in St Helens has been named as David Butterworth.

A Home Office post-mortem examination has confirmed that Mr Butterworth, 38, died as a result of a single stab wound following an incident in Tilbrook Drive, Peasley Cross, in the early hours of Sunday (December 7).

The victim’s family have since issued a brief tribute, which reads: “After the tragic loss of our son David, who will be sadly missed, the family request privacy to grieve him.

“David, you will always be in our hearts.”

A 28-year-old St Helens woman remains in police custody. She is being questioned on suspicion of murder.
