An electrical fault is expected to cause delays for motorists around Rainhill later today, council chiefs are warning.
Engineers from Scottish Power are currently working to repair the fault on the Warrington Road junction with Norlands Lane.
The fault has put a number of traffic lights out of operation.
Council workers will set up temporary traffic signals at the site from 6pm on Wednesday to allow the work to go ahead.
The temporary lights are expected to be in operation during rush hour for up to three days while work is completed.
A council spokeswoman said: “Delays can be expected and motorists should try to find an alternative route.”
