Three men have been arrested following a drugs raid by police in St Helens.

Two men aged 22 and 24 from Haydock were held after a swoop by officers on Monday together with a 22-year-old from Newton-le-Willows.

The 22-year-old from Haydock was arrested on suspicion of the production of class A drugs and the supply of class B drugs.

The 24-year-old was arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply, while the 22-year-old from Newton was arrested on suspicion of the production of class A drugs.

All three were last night being questioned by police.

DS Mark Baker, from the Matrix Serious Organised Crime team, said: “Merseyside Police is committed to tackling those who deal in drugs and make money peddling misery in our communities.

“Our message is clear if you are intent on drug dealing in Merseyside then we will do everything in our power to put the evidence together and put you before the courts.”

During a search of the property in Haydock officers seized a quantity of cannabis and a large amount of cash.

All three are currently being questioned by detectives.
