Two men broke into West Park rugby club, using a crowbar to gain entry via the roof.

The pair forced their way into the Prescot Road club house on Saturday, February 6 at atound 1am.

However, the club’s security alarm was activated, forcing the burglars to flee empty-handed.

No items are believed to have been stolen, although damage was caused in a function room.

Insp Andy Johnston, of St Helens police, said: “We are pursuing a number of lines of enquiry and I would urge anyone with further information to contact St Helens CID on (0151) 7776806.

“Anyone with information who does not wish to speak with us directly can call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
