Police have released a CCTV still of a man they want to speak to following a car theft in St Helens.

Officers were called to the Queens Park Leisure Centre car park at about 1.50pm on Wednesday, April 1, after the owner of a black Land Rover Freelander reported their car missing.

It is believed the car, which has a registration of MD08 AOS, was stolen some time between 12.30pm and 1.35pm after the keys were stolen from a locker inside the leisure centre. It has still not been found.

Patrols attended and enquiries into the incident are being carried out, including a review of CCTV from the area.

DC Neil Henry, of St Helens CID, said: “Car theft can be both incredibly inconvenient and distressing for victims and we are determined to do everything we can in St Helens to crack down on it.

“As part of our inquiries into this incident, we have issued a CCTV still of a man we think may have important information which could assist our investigation.

“I would ask him, or anyone who recognises him, to get in touch with us as soon as possible, either on 0151 777 6842 or 6843 (quoting reference 0515062085) or Crimestoppers, in confidence, on 0800 555 111.

“I’d also urge people to call us if they think they have seen the stolen car or know where it may be.”
