PUPILS at Sherdley Primary School enjoyed a splashing good time at the end of term celebrations.

The school was recently taken out of special measures by Ofsted and praised its good leadership.

Hundreds of pupils, parents and teachers attended the school gala day - which included the chance for pupils lock teachers in the stocks and aim wet sponges at them.

The event also helped to raise over £1,600 for new computer equipment for each classroom in the school.

Local dance groups entertained the visitors, who were also able to try their hand at hook a duck, sponge the teacher and a grand balloon race.

There was also a raffle with prizes donated by local companies including Sutton Distribution Centre, Tyrers Hair Studio, Saints, SJ Leisure, Treasure Island, Connie’s Kitchen sweet shop, Pots to Paint and many more.

Headteacher Richard Thompson said: “It rounded off a great week for the school – with everyone able to celebrate and enjoy themselves.”
