Council chiefs have laid on the Star Wars themed event in the town centre on December 6 as part of a programme of events throughout the run-up to the festive period.

Courtesy of Star Wars based Costume Group, 99th Garrison, the Stormtroopers, accompanied by a Shadow and Sand trooper will roam around Church Square between 11am and 3pm where you will be able to have your picture taken with Darth Vader’s soldiers.

Council leader Barrie Grunewald said: “This day is a must for Star Wars fans young and old, which will

really get you in the mood ahead of the release of the film next month – so get down to Church Square on Sunday, December 6 and release the inner Jedi in you.”

Sunday’s event follows a special Star Wars evening at Central Library.

Princess Leia, young Jedi’s, Darth Vadars, Stormtroopers – and even Ewoks were present at the library for a special Star Wars evening.

Complete with Star Wars themed rooms, including Endor, verdant home to the Ewoks; Tatooine, Luke Skywalker’s desert homeworld and the Death Star, the Empire’s ultimate weapon – the evening was full of themed activities, such as quizzes, bingo and arts and crafts -while the children could even test their Jedi skills by guessing what was inside a box by touch and smell alone.
