Voters in St Helens have had their say in the EU referedum - and have voted in favour of leaving.
Polls closed at 10pm last night, with 68.87 per cent of registered overs 18s turning out to vote - believed to be a record high turnout in the borough.
The proportion of voters on the remain side is 41.95 per cent; 58.05 per cent voting to leaving.
There were 39,322 voters to remain, and 54,357 to leave.
Officials declared the results at St Helens Town Hall shortly after 2am.
