A St Helens man has appeared in court accused of building up a collection on indecent images of children, starting when he was just 16.

Matthew Prescott appeared before magistrates in St Helens earlier this month to answer seven counts of making indecent images of children.

The offences are said to have taken place during a five-year period, starting in 2011 when Prescott was aged 16.

The 21-year-old, of Elephant Lane, Thatto Heath, denies the charges.

He was remanded in conditional bail.

Prescott was told he must next appear at Liverpool Crown Court later this month.
