A man from St Helens has been found dead near the Grand Hotel in Scarborough.
The man who died has been officially named as Ralph Charles Leyland, 36, from St Helens, Merseyside.
The inquest into his death on the morning of Sunday August 7 was open and adjourned on Wednesday.
Police are treating his death as unexplained and an investigation is ongoing to determine the circumstances that led to his injuries and subsequent death.
North Yorkshire Police were called at around 6.30am on Sunday by a member of the public who found a man with serious injuries on a terraced area between Foreshore Road and the Grand Hotel in Scarborough.
Police and paramedics attended the incident, but sadly the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
Three men remain on police bail while enquiries continue.
