A St Helens care agency has been put into special measures after being found to be inadequate by watchdogs.

Care and Connect, which is based on Corporation Street, provide care and support to people living in their own homes.

CQC records show the service employed 41 members of staff at its most recent inspection.

The report said: “We asked the registered provider to take action to make improvements and received assurances from the registered provider that all actions had been completed.

“However, at this inspection we found that the registered provider had not met these legal requirements and we found further breaches.

“Prior to this inspection we received concerns from members of the public about staff recruitment, care and welfare of people and the leadership of the service.”

A St Helens Council spokesman, added: “St Helens Council views the provision of care to our residents to be of paramount importance. Any concerns around the quality of care are considered through quality monitoring processes that are applicable to all care providers.”
