A BROTHER and sister from Rainford raised a whopping £2,200 by completing the London Marathon.
Sara and Alex Mussell (pictured) raised funds for the National Autistic Society.
The determined pair were inspired by their five-year-old nephew Jacob, who has autism.
Fundraising definitely runs in the family as their older brother Nick has also completed a series of gruelling challenges since his son’s diagnosis.
Sara, a 32-year-old primary school teacher, said: “I only started training in February as I had an operation in January. I feel really good! I’d definitely do it again and train for a better time next time.”
Together they have raised over £2,200, and a further £1,000 from a bingo and karaoke night.
Sara completed the race in 5.10.28, while her youngster brother clocked 4.15.50.
Of his first marathon, Alex, 24, said: “I massively underestimated it. I knew it would be hard, but not this hard.”
Despite still recovering from his first 26.2 miler, Nick is now preparing for an even bigger challenge.
He and Alex will ride a RICKSHAW the 506 miles from Paris to Rainford in seven days!
