A MAN has admitted stealing food and wine from a St Helens supermarket.
Ian Tucker, 47, admitted stealing items worth £25.50 from Morrisons before St Helens Magistrates’ Court last Friday (March 15).
Angela Blackmore, prosecuting, told how the defendant was spotted concealing items by in-store security guards at about 2.15pm on February 24 before he attempted to leave via an adjoining store.
However, he was stopped as he left, escorted back to the security office and arrested.
In interview Tucker, of Springfield, Rainford, made a full and frank admission and told how he had recently moved house and had not received his benefit cheque.
District Judge Wendy Lloyd handed him a 12-month conditional discharge and ordered him to pay £85 costs.
