THREE years of hard slog have finally come to for the 8th St Helens Scout troop.
The group, which has more than 100 children in beavers, cub and scout packs, has been working tirelessly to raise funds to build a new home after their old headquarters was razed to the ground in a blaze.
And last Sunday, their new £140,000 HQ on New Street, Sutton, was officially opened by group leader Barbara Johnson and group founder Dr Roy Hordley.
Mrs Johnson, aka Raksha, said: “Our thanks go to the people of Sutton and St Helens for their generosity. We’ve done bag packs at local supermarkets and the support’s been unbelievable.”
