A ST Helens schoolboy who was critically injured in a car crash last week remains in hospital in a “serious but stable” condition.

The 11-year-old Cowley International College pupil was left fighting for his life after he and an 11-year-old girl were both knocked down by a blue BMW last Sunday evening (December 11).

Emergency crews were called to Prescot Road, near to the junction with Dunriding Lane, at about 6pm.

The girl’s condition was not life-threatening.

Yesterday (Tuesday, December 20) a police spokesman confirmed that the boy’s condition was “serious but stable”.

The driver has been arrested on suspicion of driving while unfit through drugs and released on police bail.
