IF it’s good enough for Madonna, Naomi Campbell and Oprah Winfrey, then it’s good enough for Paul Wellens, Josh Perry and Jonny Lomax!
The Saints trio popped into the town centre North West Pilates and Yoga Centre last week to test out the studio’s new piece of equipment - a gyrotonic expansion system.
Working the body in circular movements, as opposed to more limited linear exercises, the kit is renowned for helping users to increase core strength and flexibility, as well as working the spine via thoracic rotations.
Nisha Srivastava, who runs the Claughton Street yoga centre and visits the Saints training ground every week to help with their recovery sessions, reckons regular use could also increase the players’ running speed.
She said: “I’ve put together a programme which the Saints players will be using at my studio as part of their mid-season training.
“This exercise system is big business in the States and is endorsed by quite a few celebrities - including the likes of Madonna, Naomi Campbell and Oprah Winfrey.
“It was great that Paul, Josh and Jonny gave it a go. They said they really enjoyed it.”
