Rainhill man, 24, shot in ‘targeted attack’

A 24-year-old man from Rainhill was shot last night in what police have described as a targeted attack.

The man was attacked on Blundells Lane at around 8pm.

The victim’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.

Detectives from Merseyside Police’s specialist Matrix Serious and Organised Crime Team are investigating the shooting, which they believe may be gang-related.

A force spokesman said: “Officers were called to Blundells Lane at approximately 8.05 pm to reports of a man being shot, in what is believed to be a targeted attack. Forensic examinations in the area are on-going and detectives are appealing for any information, or anyone who has any information to contact police on 0800 230 0600.”
