Rainford bypass closed following serious crash

Police have closed the Rainford bypass after a serious collision between a car and a motorcycle.

The smash took place at aroud 4.15pm on Tuesday at the junction of Ormskirk Road.

Police, ambulance and the Merseyside Fire and Rescue Service are in attendance at the scene.

The male motorcycle rider has been taken to hospital by air ambulance where his condition is described as serious.

Efforts are also being made to cut the female driver of the Peugeot from the car, although her injuries are not described as serious.

The Rainford bypass is currently closed in both directions.
