Race hate attack in pub

A man was subjected to a torrent of racist abuse then punched in the face after going for a quiet drink in a Newton pub.

The victim was taunted with vile slurs by a group of three men and one woman sat at a neighbouring table in the Old Crow Inn on Crow Lane Eat.

When the 41-year-old turned to confront the group he was punched and left with bruising. A barmaid who attempted to intervene was also attacked but she was unhurt.

The attack took place at around 10.30pm on December 29. The man who punched the victim is believed to have been driving a Widnes-licensed black Hackney cab and spoke with a scouse accent.
