A well-known Haydock pub could be transformed into a health care facility for adults with mental health issues.

The site of the former Ram’s Head on Kenyon Lane South has been identified by a care provider.

They want to turn it into a care and rehabilitation centre for adults with mental health issues, including dementia, Huntington’s and other degenerative brain conditions.

This will involve the minimum amount of structural alteration and the site layout itself, involving both buildings, will remain unchanged, including the external façade – beside an addition of an enclosed staircase to link the two buildings.

The new layout will offer private rooms on the outer perimeter of the property, with shared areas and staff accommodation in the centre. A decision is expected later this year.
