Detectives are investigating following the death of a man who collapsed in the street.

Officers were called to Hargreaves Street in Broadoak in the early hours of Saturday.

The 37-year-old was rushed to hospital but was pronounced dead shortly after arrival.

The man has been identified and his next-of-kin have been informed.

A post-mortem has been conducted the results of which are inconclusive.

DCI Steve Cox, said: “As part of the investigation into this man’s death we are keen to retrace his final steps.

“I would urge anyone who remembers seeing a white man, approximately 6ft tall with short dark hair walking along Broadoak Road with another man between 10pm and 10.45pm last night to get in touch.

“We believe the deceased may have been in an altercation with three males in their late teens or early 20s earlier in the evening.

“Information that may seem trivial could assist us greatly with our enquiries.”

The death is currently being treated as unexplained and an investigation into the matter is ongoing.
