Detectives have issued a CCTV image of two men they would like to speak to in connection with an assault in St Helens.

Between 5am and 5.30am on Saturday, September 19 two men have assaulted a lone male in the car part of ASDA on Kirkland Street.

PC John Brown said: “This was a completely unprovoked attack leaving the 48-year-old victim with a fractured cheek bone and eye socket and nerve damage to his shoulder and hip.

“We are keen to speak to the two men in this picture as we believe that they may have vital information that could help with our investigation.

“Although this happened in the early hours of the morning, we are also keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident. We know there were people around, either on their way home from a night out, or on their way to work and I’d like to appeal to them, if they saw anything to please contact police.”

Anyone with information, or anyone who thinks they may know these two men is asked to call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 6838, 101 or Crimestoppers, anonymously on 0800 555 111.
