A bus driver who sexually assaulted an autistic schoolboy in St Helens has been jailed.
Frederick Irish used the 14-year-old lad’s interest in buses to strike up a relationship with him via Facebook, regularly taking him out on trips on his bus.
Irish, 58, of Bolton, took his victim to St Helens for a meal before driving him to a unit at an industrial estate near his bus depot and locked them in. He stripped naked and grabbed hold of the boy asking for a hug and sexually molested him and asked him to perform a sex act on him, which he refused.
Irish, who has no previous convictions and has a 20-year-old autistic son, pleaded guilty to two charges of sexual activity with a child and inciting a child to engage in sexual activity. He was jailed for three years and nine months.
