THE Green Party has arrived in St Helens and is inviting like-minded locals to join their “progressive” movement.

There are already more than 150 local Green Party groups across England and Wales, and the St Helens one was launched at the Friends’ Meeting House yesterday.

Local party organiser Andrew Donnelly said: “We’re thrilled to be bringing Britain’s most progressive political party to St Helens. St Helens needs and deserves much better than what we’ve had and what we’ve got.

“The Green Party went into the last election with costed plans to tackle the deficit without decimating public services and destroying jobs – and we will keep pushing for positive alternatives to cuts.”
