A DOG owner has been slapped with a control order after her giant Schnauzer type dog attacked a Jack Russell.

Julie Barber of Wellbeck Avenue, Newton-le-Willows, was issued the order along with several conditions by St Helens Magistrates.

The court heard that Barber’s dog was dangerously out of control when it attacked a miniature Jack Russell being walked on a lead by its elderly owner.

The smaller dog suffered puncture wounds, muscle damage and injuries to the chest area but eventually recovered from the ordeal.

Failure to comply with any of the conditions imposed by the court could lead to a fine of up to £1,000.
