AN off-road motorbike is set to be crushed after it was seized by police in St Helens.

Officers seized the machine in Nutgrove after neighbours complained about it being used on public land near Foxwood.

PC Andy Tomkinson and PCSO Lesley Anslow were both called to the scene and, following a brief search, found the bike in nearby woods. It will now be crushed.

Coun Richard McCauley, St Helens Council’s cabinet member for environmental protection and safer communities, said: “It’s another great result and one that hopefully sends a clear message to other riders tempted to use their machines in parks or on public land.

“St Helens Council and its community safety partners are committed to stopping these nuisance riders who make life a misery for some of our communities.”
