TWO men have been arrested on suspicion of murder after a 40-year-old man was found dying in an alleyway.
The victim, who has not been named, was found with horrific head injuries and taken to Whiston Hospital where he was pronounced dead late last night (Thursday).
Emergency services were called to Parr Street in St Helens at around 3.15pm yesterday. Paramedics treated the man at the scene before rushing him to hospital.
Police have sealed off large parts of the Parr Street area for forensic examination.
Two men, aged 34 and 37, have been arrested in connection with the incident. The men remain in police custody.
A post mortem is expected to take place later today to establish the cause of death.
