Both of St Helens MPs have welcomed Pilkington’s sustainable energy proposal - and urged residents to get involved in the consultation process.
Marie Rimmer, MP for St Helens South, worked for many years at Pilks before her political career.
She said it was vital residents made their feedback known to ensure the plan successfully gets through the planning process.
“These proposals represent a welcome investment in our town and I’m pleased to see employment opportunities created as part of Pilkington’s plans – which I fully support,” she added
“I want to encourage local residents to attend the consultation evenings, to ensure their feedback is considered as part of this development.”
Conor McGinn, MP for St Helens North, added: “I welcome these proposals, which demonstrate a real commitment to our town and our economy. Pilkington is a big part of our community, and continues to provide hundreds of jobs for local people.”
A planning application and a detailed environmental impact assessment will be submitted to St Helens Council in September.
Public exhibitions will be held on Thursday, August 4 and Thursday August 11, and local residents are invited to meet the project team and find out more about the proposals.
Both events will run from 4pm and 8.30pm at The World of Glass, Chalon Way East. A sample of the RDF material will be available at this event.
