St Helens MP Marie Rimmer has praised hospital bosses after they were hailed in their latest inspection report.
The Care Quality Commission this week rated St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust as a good trust, highlighting a number of areas of excellence.
The report also said the tust was one of the best-performing in the country.
Ms Rimmer, whose constituency is home to both St Helens and Whiston Hospitals said: “I'm delighted that the CQC has recognised that St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of the best performing NHS trusts in the country.
“It is a fitting tribute to the hard work and dedication of the staff in our local health service who continue to deliver a first class service to patients.
"This week I've been working with the my colleague Meg Hillier, Chair of the Public Accounts Committee, to highlight the financial constraints hospitals are facing largely due to year on year reductions in tariffs for health procedures performed in hospitals, despite Government claims of spending more on our health services.
“I congratulate all who are involved in delivering the services in our hospitals and thank them for their dedication.”
