A MOTORBIKE passenger was killed in a horrific crash in St Helens on Sunday evening (June 19).
At around 9.30pm, police and emergency crews were called to City Road following reports of a collision between a red Renault Megane Scenic and a red Kawasaki motorbike.
The motorbike rider, a 32-year-old local man, suffered serious back and internal injuries and is currently in hospital in intensive care.
His pillion passenger, a 25-year-old St Helens man, died at the scene.
A post mortem will be carried out on Monday (June 20) to establish the cause of death.
The driver of the Renault, a 34-year-old from Thatto Heath, was not injured but was treated for shock by paramedics at the scene.
A large section of City Road and North Road were cordoned off last night to allow collision investigators to examine the scene.
