Margaret Sherwood is 105 years young!
Mrs Sherwood celebrated the milestone birthday with a quiet celebration attended by family and friends.
Born in Rainford, Mrs Sherwood moved to Wigan in her twenties and lived independently until she was 101.
Daughter Thelma Yates, 66, said: “She does remarkably well for 105. She only moved out of her own home because of an electrical fire, and if that hadn’t happened she would probably still be living there.
“She manages to get around her flat on her Zimmer frame and mentally she’s fine, she still keeps up a close interest in current affairs and what’s going on in the world.”
She started working in a butcher’s shop in Rainford, where she met her husband Fred, who worked on the railways at Rainford Junction.
