Man taken to hospital after being shot

A man has been injured following a shooting involving three people.

Merseyside Police were called to a house in Steers Croft, Stockbridge Village, at 4.50pm on Thursday to reports three males had entered a house on Steers Croft and a 25 year-old man inside the property had suffered a gunshot wound to his leg and had also been struck on the head.

The three men, who had their faces covered, are believed to have left through the rear of the property on foot.

The injured man has been taken to Aintree hospital for treatment for his injuries.

A motive for the attack is unclear at this stage but it is not believed to be targeted.

An investigation is underway and CCTV and forensic opportunities are being explored.
