Police were called to a terrace house in St Helens town centre after the discovery of a man’s body.

Officers attended the address in Banner Street on Saturday afternoon after receiving calls from neighbours concerned that the man had not been seen for several days.

After forcing their way into the building, police found the body of a man in his 70s.

A cordon was erected around the building while an examination took place but it is thought the man’s death is not being treated as suspicious.

Police are still trying to identify the man and are attempting to trace his next of kin.
