A Whiston man is set to stand trial accused of murdering his stepfather.

Nathan Kenny, 33, has been charged with the murder of Michael Fennah on December 17 last year.

Mr Fennah, 52, sustained fatal injuries after he was hit by a car on Scott Avenue shortly after 9am.

Kenny, of Braemar Close, was arrested on suspicion of murder later the same day.

He made his first court appearance via videolink last Friday (January 2) and is set to enter a plea before Liverpool Crown Court on March 27.

A provisional trial date has been set for May 12.

In a statement released before Christmas Mr Fennah’s long-term partner, who asked not to be named, told of her grief.

She said: “There are no words to express what myself, our son and his family are going through. There will be a lot of people who knew Mike or knew of him and will fully understand my sentiment when I say what a large part of our lives is now missing.

“Our son will have to grow up with memories, pictures and stories about his dad, a poor substitute for the huge role Mike had in his life.

“A son, brother, uncle, nephew, my partner, my friend and more importantly a dad.

“Mike will be sadly missed by all.”
