Merseyside Police launch investigation after man fell to his death

A MAN has died after falling from a great height at a distribution centre in Knowsley.

An investigation is underway following the unexplained death of a worker at the Matalan distribution centre in Kirkby overnight, but police say it is not being treated as suspicious.

Police officers were called to the site in Perimeter Road on Knowsley Business Park at 2am on Friday by employees reporting a colleague had fallen from a significant height.

On arrival officers from Merseyside Police found paramedics treating a 32-year-old man for serious head injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Aintree University Hospital in Fazakerley for emergency treatment but was sadly pronounced dead a short time later by doctors.

A police investigation into the circumstances of his death is being carried out by detectives from Knowsley CID.

The incident occurred inside the distribution centre and operations at the facility have been suspended to allow crime scene investigators to attend this morning.

The man’s next of kin have been informed and a police family liaison officer is providing them with support at this difficult time.
