A man has been charged after a £50,000 drugs haul in a van on the East Lancashire Road.
Alan Thomas Brierley, 45, of Rochdale, appeared at St Helens Magistrates’ Court, charged with possession with intent to supply Class B drugs after a quantity of what is suspected to be cannabis was discovered in a van on the East Lancashire Road.
He was also charged with the unauthorised taking of a motor vehicle.
Officers stopped a white Renault van close to Windle Island at around 3.15pm on Thursday April 7.
A quantity of what is believed to be cannabis resin, with an estimated street value of around £50,000, was recovered from the van.
He entered no plea and he will now appear at Liverpool Crown Court on May 9.
