Up to 10 jobs are to be created when coffee giant Costa opens an outlet in St Helens town centre.
The company will launch a new store in Church Square shopping centre and will be able to cater for around 75 diners.
Recruitment for baristas starts this week for the new store, which will be based at the former Coverdale soft furnishings shop, which closed last year.
Church Square Shopping Centre manager Steven Brogan said: “Costa has been looking for a site in the centre of St Helens for some time and it’s great that the company has chosen this prime site for its new café.
“I think it will bring a whole new feel to this part of the square and to Church Street, and will help regenerate the town centre. We are working hard to attract new and well-known names to the shopping centre, with the investment we’ve carried out over the last year, and we hope to make more positive announcements in the coming months.”
Costa’s regional development manager Assim Mohammed said: “We’re so excited to be opening our new store in Church Square Shopping Centre, St Helens this December, and to bring 10 new jobs to the area is fantastic.
“As with all of our new store openings we will do all that we can to integrate ourselves with the local community, getting involved with events; providing the store as a meeting place and helping with fundraising.”
Anyone interested in applying for the St Helens jobs can complete an application on the company’s website.
The store is set to open later this year.
