A LAW firm has donated more than £7,000 to Whiston Hospital’s Special Care Baby Unit (SCBU).
Howard Nulty, a partner at St Helens Law, felt compelled to help the SCBU after he was so impressed with the care he and his family have received some years ago.
He said: “Whiston Hospital is especially important to me. Dr Amegavie was a junior member of staff in 1985 when he sat up with my 14-month-old daughter all night taking blood readings and basically keeping her alive.
“I will never forget his kindness, ability and dedication, which have been mirrored by the rest of the staff at the hospital ever since.”
Dr Laweh Amegavie, Clinical Director for Children’s and Young People’s Department said: “On behalf of the Special Care Baby Unit I would like to express my sincere thanks to Howard and everyone at St Helens Law for this very generous donation.
“The money will be put towards buying an essential piece of equipment which will help to care for vulnerable babies with breathing problems.”
