The date when St Helens Magistrates Court will hold its last session has been announced.
The court will open for the last time on June 24, with all cases being transferred to Liverpool’s Queen Elizabeth II courts from June 27.
The Ministry of Justice announced that the magistrates court would close in February, following a consultation last year, despite criticism from politicians, employees and residents.
Marie Rimmer MP, Conor McGinn MP and St Helens Council Leader Barrie Grunewald condemned the decision, fearing it would prohibit access to justice for residents.
The Courthouse and County Court will remain open with county court work from Warrington will also being moved to St Helens.
