THE future of a town centre discount clothing store has been secured - along with a dozen jobs.

Staff at Bonmarche in St Helens were “thrilled” to learn that the local store - in the Hardshaw Centre - is one of around 230 set to remain open under new owners, Sun European Partners.

Bonmarche is one of the UK’s biggest value retailers focused on selling affordable womenswear to women who are 50 and over.

Sun European Partners is currently responsible for a large portfolio of companies, including the Irisa Group, Jacques Vert, American Golf, SCS sofas, Lee Cooper and Scotch and Soda.

Local store manager Helen Harvey said: “Staff are thrilled with the news that we are remaining open. We would like to extend a special thanks to our customers for their support and messages of encouragement over the last few weeks.”

Former owners Black Retails went into administration last week.
