A HEARTLESS burglar who raided the homes of elderly neighbours in a shocking three-day crime spree has been jailed.

In the space of just 72 hours “greedy” Stephen Carmody, 30, of Sutton, targeted the homes of several elderly neighbours - stealing cash and mobile phones.

He was jailed for seven-and-a-half years at Liverpool Crown Court after pleading guilty to two counts of burglary, two counts of attempted burglary and robbery.

Carmody admitted targeting homes along Hoghton Road - the road on which he lives - as well as nearby Brotherhood Drive and Hoghton Close between Friday, June 21, and Sunday, June 23.

Each of the homes he targeted are little more than a stone’s throw away from his home address - where he was eventually arrested on the evening of June 23. The eldest of his victims was 83.
