A 91-year-old man from Newton-le-Willows has become one of the oldest people in Britain to be convicted of a sexual offence.

Alfred Broady was convicted of two counts of indecent exposure near his home in Legh Street, Newton.

The offences took place on February 9 and 11 this year.

Broady was charged with causing alarm of distress by intentionally exposing himself.

Magistrates in St Helens ordered him to serve a six-week community order with curfew, pay a surcharge to fund victim services of £60, pay costs of £85 to the Crown Prosecution Service.
