THE hunt is on for heritage hotspots in and around St Helens.
Do you know of a building in the borough that deserves a place in history?
St Helens Council wants to hear from residents with ideas on places that can feature in this year’s Heritage Open Days event (from September 6 to 9).
The national initiative celebrates history, architecture and culture by allowing visitors free access to properties across the UK.
Last year’s thousands of people turned out to get a rare glimpse inside buildings including St Helens Town Hall, local churches, the Masonic Hall and the Friends Meeting House.
Cabinet Member for Culture Councillor Eric Smith said: “We’re sure that there are other places of local interest that deserve their moment in the spotlight – and which people would love to see.”
Organisations, keyholders, church members or community and voluntary groups should contact Karen Rylance on 01744 677076 for details.
