Grants of up to £500 are available now for community groups with big ideas.

The Big Lottery Fund has set aside £1m to spend in Wargrave, Newton-le-Willows, in the next decade.

But to be able to access the cash, action plans must first be put together.

Now the Wargrave Big Local (WABL) is offering up to £500 for community groups who could carry out consultations with the public to see what they have to say about how the money is spent and on what.

Decisions about what to spend the money on can only be made by residents.

Wargrave Big Local also has a steering group which has been working over the past year to find out people’s opinions and ideas.

They want to hear from people who don’t feel part of the community at Wargrave, people who can’t get out and about due to caring responsibilities or a disability, young people and young adults.

The consultation grants can be used for any purpose that helps us to understand what local people would
like to see happen in Wargrave.

WABL feels that community groups are better placed at finding out people’s views hence the £500 offer.

A total of £5,000 is available for community groups but once it’s gone, it’s gone.

There will be no further application rounds so it’s
important to get your application in as soon as possible.

Any community-based organisations that can show how they can reach priority groups of residents in Wargrave can apply.
