Countless friends have been left saddened by the sudden death of a dedicated woman who was a familiar face at the Willowbrook Hospice office in Claughton Street.

Volunteer Mary Derbyshire, 69, of Windleshaw Road, Dentons Green, died in hospital on the Isle of Man while on holiday with her husband John, a former postman.

She also leaves a brother, John, and numerous extended family.

A lovely lady whose smile endeared her to everyone, Mary joined Willowbrook in 2004, and was ever ready to undertake any task asked of her - be it accounts, typing or records.

A funeral service for Mrs Derbyshire will be held at St Thomas of Canterbury Church, Windleshaw, next Tuesday (October 22) at midday, followed by a cremation.

Further enquiries should be made to Paul Lowrey, at Hedges Funeral Directors, Harris Street, on 01744 22100.
