Horse cruelty trial date set
A PROVISIONAL trial date has been set after a St Helens woman denied several charges of horse cruelty.
Ashley Cullen, 24, has been charged with causing unnecessary suffering to a part-bred Arab gelding by fabricating or inducing illness which resulted in severe nose bleeds.
Following an RSPCA investigation, she is also charged with failing to exercise reasonable care and supervision of the gelding and failing to protect him from pain, injury, suffering and disease.
She is also charged with inducing injuries to the horse’s eyes, resulting in ulceration.
Cullen, of Upholland Road, Billinge, indicated a not guilty plea, via her solicitor, before St Helens Magistrates’ Court yesterday (Tuesday, October 5).
A provisional trial date has been set for January 12.
