A homeless man who sleeps in a tent in Thatto Heath Park has admitted a charge of being drunk and disorderly.

Staff at a medical centre in St Helens called the police at about 5.30pm last Tuesday (July 8) after Marsh, 50, refused to leave the premises while in an intoxicated state.

St Helens Magistrates’ Court heard how the defendant then became verbally abusive and clenched his fists when officers attempted to remove him.

JPs fined him £50, but accepted the night he had spent in the cells as payment. They urged him to “keep out of trouble - for your own sake”.
