CCTV images have been released of a man police would like to speak to after a woman was punched in the face.

The 24-year-old woman was left with injuries to her lip, mouth, jaw and cheek after she was assaulted in McTucky’s on Westfield Street, St Helens, at around 2am on July 5.

She was ordering food when she got into a verbal altercation with a man which ended when she was punched and the offender fled.

Detectives are now urging anyone who recognises the man in the CCTV still (pictured) to call them and help bring the perpetrator to justice.

They believe the fast food outlet was busy with revellers on their way home from a night out when the shocking assault happened.

Sgt Michael Jackson said: “A 24-year-old woman sustained injuries to her face and has been left very shaken following her ordeal.

“Prior to the assault there was a verbal altercation between the woman and the offender. At this time the takeaway was extremely busy and someone will have seen what happened.

“We take incidents of this nature extremely seriously and we are appealing to anyone with any information about the person responsible for this attack to call us so we can take action against them.”

Anyone with information is asked to call Merseyside Police on 0151 777 6065, 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
