Council chiefs in Knowsley have launched an ambitious new scheme to tackle the root causes of ill health and poor wellbeing.
They aim to address the factors that have an impact on health and wellbeing throughout peoples’ lives.
A town hall spokesman said: “Improving health and wellbeing is not just about having good hospital services and general practice, it is also about addressing factors that have an impact on health and wellbeing throughout the life course, which includes the environment, employment, housing and education.
“Tackling these issues and improving lifestyle choices are key to achieving this.
“Applications are welcomed from groups which demonstrate how they will help Knowsley residents improve their health and wellbeing by supporting them to make healthy lifestyle choices and make positive changes to their lifestyle.
“Applications must focus on one or more of the following themes; promotion of healthy eating, increasing physical activity, reducing smoking and the promotion of smoke free environments and reducing alcohol misuse and the promotion of responsible drinking.
“Groups can apply for up to a maximum of £1,000 in any one financial year (April to March), this may be as a one off grant or a number of grants not totalling more than £1,000.
“The deadline for receipt of applications is Friday, October 30.
